Old world inspired, unfiltered small batch ales. Taste the difference!
Owners Kurt and Lori Ahrens enjoyed flavorful European style ales as far back as their college days. When they moved to Seattle, Washington from Denver, Colorado in 1988 they would soon be "exposed" to the wonderful microbrews exploding on the scene in the great Northwest. This was also inspiration for Kurt to become a homebrewer a few years later. Kurt was attracted to the British and Irish style ales and learned to appreciate them even more when he and Lori were able to visit the UK and Ireland. That's where the "old world inspired" slogan comes from. Kurt has taken inspiration from these styles of ales, but he is also influenced by Northwest style beers that are often big, bold and aggressively hopped.
Because North Sound Brewing Co.'s brewhouse system is relatively small, we're able to make small batches which means we can pay special attention to quality. Our beers are also unfiltered and fresh. We think that makes our beers extra special. Look for our beers and taste the difference!

Big R Imperial Red Ale (available Fall through Spring)
Lots of malt and lots of hops means there's lots going on in this ale!! The initial full bodied malt start to this beer gives way to a lingering spicy bitter finish. You might want to use both hands when steering this one! This is one to chew on!!!! Cheers! 9% ABV |

Sucellus Imperial Porter
Named for the Celtic god of agriculture and alcoholic drinks, he is often seen carrying a hammer and a beer keg on a long pole. We crammed a whole lot of oatmeal and chocolate malts into this ale. 101 Imperial IPA
Why do we call it the “101”? Three reasons: it’s 10.1% abv, it’s 101 IBU’s and the dry-hopping we did to it cost us $101. This deceptively smooth Imperial IPA hits your nose with grapefruit and apple and layers the tongue with a hop profile that will put a smile on your ever-hop-lovin’ face. 10.1 ABV |
